According to Cover Story's Design Director Päivi Häikiö, colors and light bring spaces to life. The Cover Story palette aims to provide the best and most dynamic shades that last over time and adapt well to any environment.
Päivi designed the 32 colors in the Cover Story Basics Collection. Numerous color samples have accompanied her from the Finnish archipelago to the fells of the north because she wanted the colors to work perfectly in different light conditions - a perfect matte surface that works beautifully in all situations. Historic buildings, nature, and iconic design classics have served as inspiration for the color collection, as has the literature to which the colors' descriptions and names refer.
After graduating with a Master's degree in Art Studies, Päivi found her calling in graphic design while working at a bookstore in Munich. Since then, Päivi's path has led from UCLA in Los Angeles to German design and advertising agencies and finally back to Finland. In addition to her role as Cover Story's Design Director, Päivi carries out visual design work in her own studio and teaches at Aalto University.
In Päivi's home you will find 002 EMILY, 008 SYLVIA and 028 TONI. Her daughter's room is decorated in 024 ANAÏS, her son's in 026 AGATHA. Päivi's studio is painted in 002 EMILY, 030 VIRGINIA and 019 MAYA.
“I am fascinated by how even small changes in color can alter the atmosphere of a space. For example, even a subtle shift from a white to a light putty, without altering anything else, can bind the interior as a whole. Changing the color of the wall or ceiling can renew the whole interior.”
